Two more weeks to (one of the) biggest festival in Singapore – Chinese New Year! Everyone should be busy shopping for their new year clothes and new year goodies, while us ladies will be busy snatching up appointment slots to get our beauty services done right?

I wanted to book an appointment for nails and eyelash extensions in the past weekend, contacted a few shops but they were fully booked. *Panic* Luckily Vanitee got in touch with me and invited me to use their app to book my beauty appointments, and yes, I managed to secure an appointment near my house pretty quickly. I now have red and gold nails, all ready to welcome CNY 2016, woohoo!

What is Vanitee? Vanitee is a mobile app that works to help users like you and me search for and book our appointments for beauty services. It is basically like a “uber” or “grabtaxi” for beauty services haha!! They cover quite a few types of beauty services, namely nails, makeup, hair stying and brow & lash.

For each category, you can view by “works” or by “artists”. Under “works”, just like the picture below, yow can view all works in pictures and also get some inspiration for the design you want; under “artists”, it will be the profile of each shop or artist as well as a preview of some works, their star rating and location!

One of my favourite feature – the search filter! I was able to filter by location and I manage to find a shop at Bugis Cube, which is a location that is very convenient for me.

Decided to book my appointment with Cindy from The Nail Butler, due to her location as well as her rating on Vanitee. 43 bookings made through the app and she maintained a 5 star rating! FYI, Vanitee actually do background checks on their artists, and the artists on the app are personally verified by the Vanitee team.

Anyway, under each shop’s / artist’s profile, we can see the works gallery, services available, prices, info about the shop as well as reviews and ratings from other customers! All these will help you with making a decision.

Booking with Vanitee is pretty straightforward. You select the services that you want, choose your date and time, key in your credit card details and you’re ready to secure your appointment! You may also key in extra instructions to the artist. If you’re unclear about anything, you can actually chat with the artist via the app, both before and after making your booking.

You might be wondering, how is your booking going to be confirmed? It is confirmed almost instantly! The timings available for selection on the app will be the available timings of the artist/app, and in the event that there is a clash or whatsoever, the artist will message you on the app to negotiate on a change in time or date.

After I made my booking, the app recorded my appointment under “Bookings”. I like it that they indicated the duration of the service, and I can inform my boyfriend regarding the time to pick me up. Also, the location and map is also provided within the app, I was able to find the shop with ease.

The app also sent me SMS confirmations upon making my appointment, 24 hours before my appointment, 1 hour before my appointment, as well as the payment charged to my credit card after my appointment. Good for scatterbrains like me hehe.

As mentioned earlier, I booked my appointment with The Nail Butler at Bugis Cube, which is a stone’s throw away from Bugis Junction. The shop is pretty cozy and nicely decorated. I can see that they put in a lot effort in making us customers comfortable, with lots of cushion on the wide arm chairs, blanket for my lap, complementary drinks and candies, and they even have a TV for us to watch movies!

I did classic gelish manicure and classic pedicure with The Nail Bulter, and I am satisfied with their service. Cindy did my pedicure while Vivian did my manicure. I now have pretty nails as well as softer feet hehe! Since it is CNY, I picked red color for both my fingers and toes. I have an apple red shade on my toes, and red + gold glitter nail art on my fingers. The above costed me $148 in total, inclusive of CNY surcharge for both services. Payment for basic services will be cashless, made through the app, while additional services/surcharge might have to be paid in cash, depending on each shop.

Yay love my nails hehe!!! 😀

After each of our appointment, the app will ask us for our review of the services, and you can proceed to rate the artist that you’ve engaged. This function is pretty good as the rating will be shared on the app and can help other users with their decision making.
